Sometimes an equipment company designs a machine that is so out of character that somehow it works perfectly. This is the case with this Cybex machine. The kneeling hamstring curl is the only leverage machine made by Cybex that I’m aware of. When designed correctly, leverage machines are the best at keeping constant tension on the muscle throughout the entire range of motion. That is what makes this machine special. That, and how your body is placed in the machine so that the hamstring is forced to do the work. With a lot of hamstring curl machines, the back arches and the low back and butt take over the movement. This machine locks the body in place so that the only pivot point is at the hamstring. The unilateral component of this machine (one leg at a time), makes it perfect for training hamstring/leg imbalances.
